This policy explains how the “Yike — Translate as You Type” Chrome
extension handles user data. By using the extension, you acknowledge the
practices described below.
2. Information we process
2.1 Text submitted for translation
When Yike is enabled and a user types in a supported text field, textarea,
or rich-text editor, the extension processes the current text to generate
a translation suggestion. Yike does not run in password fields and does
not read an entire page for this feature.
2.2 Extension settings
Yike uses Chrome Sync Storage to save whether the extension is enabled,
source and target languages, translation delay, activation scope, and the
list of site domains the user explicitly enables. If Chrome Sync is
enabled, these settings may be synchronized across the user's devices.
2.3 Temporary translation cache
When network fallback is used, up to 200 recent translation results may
be held temporarily in the extension background service's runtime memory
to avoid duplicate requests. This cache is not written to persistent
extension storage and disappears when the background service restarts,
the browser closes, or the extension reloads.
2.4 Information we do not collect
Yike does not require an account and does not collect analytics,
advertising identifiers, browsing history, payment information, or
authentication information. It does not record page visit times or build
user profiles.
3. How information is used
Information is used only to:
generate and display translations requested by the user;
insert a translation or restore the original text after confirmation;
remember language and site-scope preferences; and
operate and secure the translation feature.
4. Third-party services and transfers
4.1 Google Translate
If Chrome's built-in local translation is unavailable, Yike sends the
text to be translated, the source language, and the target language to
translate.googleapis.com over HTTPS. This transfer is
necessary to provide the translation feature. Google's processing is
governed by the
Google Privacy Policy. We do not control Google's logging or
retention practices.
4.2 Chrome Sync
Extension settings are stored through Chrome's
chrome.storage.sync. Google Chrome processes synchronized
settings according to the user's Chrome Sync configuration.
Other than the processing necessary to provide the core feature described
above, we do not sell, rent, or transfer user data. We do not use it for
personalized advertising, marketing, creditworthiness, or lending.
5. Retention
We do not operate developer servers that receive or store translation
text. Network translation results are held only briefly in extension
runtime memory. Chrome stores extension settings; users can stop future
processing and remove extension-related data by changing settings,
disabling Chrome Sync, or uninstalling the extension.
6. User choices
Pause Yike at any time from the extension popup.
Use “Selected sites” mode to limit where the extension operates.
Edit or remove the selected-site list.
Uninstall the extension to stop all future processing.
Do not use this extension to translate passwords, verification codes,
payment-card data, medical records, or other highly sensitive information
that you do not want processed by a third-party translation service.
7. Security
Requests to Google Translate are encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
Although we take reasonable measures to minimize data processing and
retention, no method of network transmission can be guaranteed to be
completely secure.
8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Yike's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use
requirements. Information is used only to provide or improve the
extension's disclosed single purpose, is not used for advertising, and is
not transferred outside approved use cases.
9. Changes to this policy
If Yike's data practices change, we will update this page and, where
required, provide a prominent notice in the product or Chrome Web Store
listing. The date at the top identifies the latest effective date.
